Road Safety Awareness Prog held at GDC Kulgam, DC urges College students to follow safety rules

Kulgam: As part of the ongoing efforts to promote road safety in the district, the Kashmir Road Safety Foundation (KRSF) in collaboration with Degree College Kulgam organized a road safety awareness event titled ‘Mission Save Lives J&K,’ at Govt Degree College (GDC) Kulgam.
The initiative aimed to educate students on the importance of road safety, and empower them with the knowledge needed to become responsible road users.
During the interactive session, students learned about traffic rules, pedestrian safety and the necessity of wearing helmets and seatbelts, besides the importance of safe practices when walking or cycling.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, who graced the occasion as chief guest highlighted the importance of road safety education for students, saying, “Educating young people about road safety is a vital step towards reducing accidents. The students are the future drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, and teaching them the rules today will help save lives tomorrow.”
“We should not take things for granted, we have to be sensitive, let us reflect on road safety rules by saving life,” he elaborated.
Principal GDC Kulgam, Syed Aizaz Rizvi said that the programme is the part of the larger mission to aim and sensitize students regarding road safety rules and valuing life of our dear ones and others.
ARTO Kulgam, Dr Showkat Bhat highlighted the road safety rules and regulations.
He said the role of youth in minimizing road accidents and saving precious lives is very important.
The event was attended by ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri; SDM, D.H Pora, Bashir-ul Hassan; Principal GDC Frisal, CMO, DLSA, CRPF, SDRF, Chairman KRSF, Chairman HOW School, College students and faculty members.
