Srinagar : SKUAST-K and DAAD (German Academic Exchange Services) and SKUAST-K are jointly organising a workshop on “Internationalization of higher education: Cooperation Management” at SKUAST-K wef 10-11 April 2025. During the workshop the Regional Director DAAD India Dr Katja Lasch and Senior Advisor DAAD, Ms. Shikha Sinha dwelled upon the cooperation management, funding as well as development of international programmes with European Union especially Germany.
The workshop participants are Deans and Directors of International affairs from IIT Andhra Pradesh, Osmania University, BITS Pilani, NIT Warangal, Tezpur University, St Stephens college Delhi and SKUAST-K etc. During the workshop the DAAD representatives and participants will discuss establishing good practices on Internationalisation in HEI’s, development, management and monitoring of DAAD projects, case studies by various participating institutions such as BITS, Osmania, NIT Warangal and SKUAST-K. as well as issues and challenges facing operation of international offices. The inaugural function was presided by Prof Nazir A Ganai Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K. In his address he stressed upon strengthening cooperation between SKUAST-K and German institutions in building joint academic and research programmes as well as facilitating faculty and student mobility programmes. Regional Director DAAD outlined various academic and research partnership opportunities being facilitated by DAAD and ensured that the two institutions will identify areas of mutual cooperation. Pertinent to mention that this workshop is first of its kind in J&K UT.
SKUAST-K was chosen as venue for this workshop based on the demonstrated leadership in internationalisation of education during the last five years, wherein university has forged effective academic and research collaborations with leading institutions in the world, sponsored more than 200 faculty and students to overseas institutions.
This has helped university to create enabling ecosystem for faculty and students to land in global institutions under graduate studies and prestigious fellowships. The directors of international offices of participating institutions also reflected upon the opportunities and challenges in promoting internationalisation.
