Jammu : An interactive and forward-looking meeting to deliberate on the implementation of the fourth year of the Four-Year Undergraduate (FYUG) programme was on Monday held in the conference hall of the College. The session brought together key academic stakeholders including Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Anand, Dean of Academic Affairs, CLUJ; Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College; and all Heads of Departments (HODs), who engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the structure, content, and delivery of the fourth-year curriculum.
The primary focus of the meeting was to finalize the subjects to be introduced in the fourth year and to collaboratively draft a dynamic syllabus aligned with academic excellence. HODs provided valuable inputs from their respective disciplines, emphasizing a balanced approach that addresses student’s diverse academic interests and career aspirations. Discussions revolved around the introduction of new elective and core subjects, with special attention to interdisciplinary topics that foster critical thinking, adaptability, and holistic education, highlighting the integration of recent advancements in their fields, ensuring that the curriculum remains contemporary and competitive. Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Gupta affirmed that GGM Science College is fully prepared to implement the fourth year and is also ready to support research-based coursework. "The college is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and experienced faculty capable of delivering quality education and research mentorship," he stated. Adding further depth to the conversation, Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Anand emphasized the pivotal role of research in the fourth-year framework. The CLUJ is committed to embedding research components into the curriculum to enrich the academic experience and better prepare students for higher studies or professional pathways," he said. He also urged faculty to proactively prepare for mentoring research students in the upcoming academic sessions. Each HOD presented departmental feedback, discussing key opportunities for student development, potential challenges in curriculum delivery, and ways to ensure effective implementation. The meeting concluded with a collective resolution to continue refining the syllabus with broader faculty involvement, and to schedule further discussions for the seamless integration of the fourth year into the
