Kulgam: As part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, the District Administration Kulgam on Saturday launched a mega Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign.
The campaign was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, during an event held at the Mini Secretariat, here.
Addressing the occasion, DC emphasized the need for a united and sustained effort to eliminate drug abuse from society. He said the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir initiative extends beyond awareness generation and focuses strongly on rehabilitation and long-term support for those affected by substance abuse.
Beyond sensitization, administration is prioritizing rehabilitation of those who are victimized of drug abuse, he added.
“That is the real battle against this social evil, and we must work with dedication and compassion to eliminate it,” Khan said.
DC further highlighted that a range of measures have already been implemented to tackle the drug menace in the district.
He strongly advocated not stigmatizing victims of drug abuse, instead supporting them with empathy and aid their rehabilitation.
It was informed that the week-long IEC campaign will include awareness rallies, cultural events, community engagements, and interactive sessions across various panchayats, Municipalities and educational institutions.
The initiative will bring together students, civil society and other stakeholders of the society to build a united front against drug abuse.
Meanwhile the district administration on Saturday organized a sensitization and orientation programme for Resource Persons here at the new conference hall of mini-secretariat which was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam.
During the programme, their role was highlighted in ensuring a focused and result-oriented campaign. IEC material was distributed among participants to aid in spreading awareness at the grassroots level.
A short film showcasing the harmful effects of drug abuse was also screened to educate attendees and reinforce the campaign’s message.
