Road Rally, Seminar Mark World Tuberculosis Day in G’bal

G’bal : On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, a road rally and seminar were organized in Ganderbal under the theme “Yes, We Can End TB – Commit, Invest, Deliver.”
The rally, organized by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ganderbal, was inaugurated by CMO Dr. Bashir Ahmad Khan along with Medical Superintendent DH Ganderbal Dr. Nighat Yasmin, DIO Ganderbal Dr. Bushra, and other Block Medical Officers (BMOs). ASHA workers and program unit representatives from various blocks actively participated in the rally, which commenced from District Hospital Ganderbal and concluded at the CMO office. Participants raised slogans such as “End TB” and “TB Harega, Desh Jeetega” to spread awareness. Following the rally, a seminar was held at District Hospital Ganderbal, presided over by CMO Dr. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Medical Superintendent Dr. Nighat Yasmin, and other health officials. The event was attended by students, faculty members, and public health workers.
Dr. Umar Nazir (MD), Nodal Officer for NTEP Ganderbal, presented an overview of tuberculosis at global, national, and district levels, emphasizing early detection and program provisions. Dr. Muzaffar Zargar (General Physician, DH Ganderbal) highlighted TB diagnosis and treatment among adults, while Dr. Abid (Pediatric Consultant, DH Ganderbal) addressed TB in children, dispelling common myths. Dr. Rameez (Physician, DH Ganderbal) discussed treatment strategies for active and latent TB cases. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by the Medical Superintendent/DIO, who reinforced the significance of awareness programs in the fight against tuberculosis.
