Dy Speaker reviews rehabilitation process of KGHEP affected families

Jammu: The Deputy Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi Thursday convened a meeting to review the rehabilitation process of families affected due to Kishen Ganga Hydro Electric Project (KGHEP).

The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, B B Vyas, Commissioner Secretary, Relief and Disaster Management Shafiq Ahmad Raina, Commissioner Secretary, Revenue Shahid Anayatullah, Director, Relief and Disaster Management, Aamir Ali, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez Balbeer Singh and other officers of concerned departments.

During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on rehabilitation plan and it was decided that compensation would be given to the legal land owners whose land was acquired by the authorities of KGHEP.

The Deputy Speaker directed the Revenue Department to provide land to the families who lost their residence due to construction of the project and also asked them to fulfil the genuine demands of the people who get affected, on priority basis.

Earlier, the Deputy Speaker convened another meeting with the officers of Tourism, Revenue and Civil Aviation Departments and discussed the availability of helicopter services to the inhabitants of Gurez during the current winter season.

It was decided in the meeting that oil deposition centre will be set up in Bandipora for which the instructions have been given to the District Development Commissioner, Bandipora to identify the land for the purpose.

Liaison Officers were also constituted to monitor the helicopter service schedule during winters to ensure smooth air services to Gurez Valley. These officers included Additional Commissioner Kashmir, SDM Gurez and Deputy Director Enforcement Srinagar and Nodal Officer was nominated SDM Gurez.

The Deputy Speaker asked the concerned to provide suitable accommodation for Pilots in Bandipora during winters.

Detailed discussion was also held on setting up of 4 new helipads at Buduaab, Budugam, Neeru and Purana Tulail and the Deputy Speaker asked the concerned for early establishing of the same.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner, Civil Aviation, , Additional District Development Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir, SDM Gurez, General Manager Pawan Hans and other Senior officers of various Departments.
