Secy, Planning meets VC Jammu Varsity, lauds JU for NAAC A++ Accreditation

Jammu: Talat Parvez Rohilla, IAS, Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring, today visited the University of Jammu and held an insightful meeting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai.
During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor apprised Mr. Rohilla of the University’s pioneering initiatives, including the College on Wheels program, the innovative Design Your Degree program, and various other initiatives undertaken by the University under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the University’s future initiatives and explored potential avenues where financial assistance from the government, including support through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, could significantly benefit the University.
Mr. Rohilla appreciated the University’s efforts in promoting academic excellence and innovation. He also commended the Vice Chancellor for securing the prestigious NAAC A++ Accreditation, which reflects the University’s commitment to quality education and institutional excellence. He assured full support from the Planning Department to enhance the University’s infrastructure and research capabilities.
The Commissioner Secretary also took a tour of the University’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Centre for IT and the Dhanwantri Library.
During his visit to the Centre for IT Enabled Services and Management, he engaged in a discussion with Dr. Guneet Singh Sudan, Director of the Centre, on various strategies to transform the Centre into a hub of IT excellence.
Mr. Rohilla emphasized the adoption of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), which aims to equip students with practical skills and industry experience, thereby enhancing their employability. He also advocated for integrating Swayam Plus into the curriculum, as it aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and offers accessible, affordable, and flexible education with greater inclusivity.
Furthermore, Mr. Rohilla praised the ICT Academy as a commendable initiative that bridges the gap between academia and industry, ultimately improving the employability prospects of university students.
The meeting was attended by the senior functionaries of the University, including Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean Planning and Development; Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies; Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar; Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas, Dr. Ginny Dogra, Director DIQA; and Dr. Guneet Soodan, Director CITES&M.
