Kishtwar : Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Thursday reviewed the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the district.
The meeting focused on smart metering and loss reduction (LR) works, which include AB cabling, High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS), reconductoring and feeder bifurcation/segregation.
At the outset, the DC welcomed the participants and took a comprehensive status update on the progress of the key components under RDSS. He thoroughly reviewed the implementation of smart metering and loss reduction initiatives besides assessing the challenges faced by executing agencies.
Expressing concern over the slow pace of smart meters installation, the DC directed DGM, RECPDCL to expedite the progress to achieve the set targets.
The DC sets April 15, 2025, as the final deadline for the completion of smart metering across the township and various areas of the district. He further emphasized the timely procurement of materials to avoid delays and instructed officers to ensure a seamless supply chain for ongoing and upcoming projects.
To enhance the monitoring and execution of RDSS projects, the Kishtwar instructed JPDCL to establish a dedicated Cell at the DC Office Complex. This will facilitate daily monitoring of project progress to identify and address critical gaps efficiently, he added.
During the meeting, the DC also reviewed the power distribution works in remote areas of Marwah and Warwan. He directed the executing agencies to start work immediately in these regions to strengthen the power infrastructure and improve power supply for residents.
Additionally, the DC instructed the Executive Engineer, JPDCL, to revisit and revise the project plans in alignment with the revised costs and scope of work. He stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards and ensuring timely execution to achieve the objectives of the RDSS.
The meeting was attended by CPO Shahnawaz Bali, DGM, REC PDCL Rishab Jain, Executive Engineer JPDCL Kishtwar Latief Ahmed, Executive Engineer Project Div Doda Rajeev Sharma, officials and representatives of various executing agencies including PGCIL, REC, PIA, PESL, and Vijay Electrical Ltd., Hyderabad among other stakeholders.
The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring efficient power distribution and reducing AT&C losses in Kishtwar. He urged all agencies involved to work in close coordination and adhere to the prescribed timelines for the successful implementation of RDSS projects in the district.
