Srinagar: Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Altaf Hassan Mirza Wednesday held an interactive session to discuss the preparation for the replacement of the existing treasury system with modern Pay and Accounts Office (PAO) mechanism.
Heads of various Departments, Chief Engineers, besides representatives of Chamber of Commerce Kashmir, Traders Association and Contractors and other concerned were present on the occasion.
The DG apprised the meeting participants about the benefits of the new system and ways it will speed up the development of the State. He said the new system besides being easy will root out corruption and will make it easier to see real-time progress of all developmental projects.
He said as Ministry of Finance is proposing to bring radical reforms in the payment system of the State by switching over to PAO system, the Ministry had desired to take all the stakeholders on board before the new system is rolled out by the Finance department.
The DG Accounts and Treasuries also presented a detailed power point presentation and answered various queries and observations of the participants about the proposed system.
