“Breaking the Barrier: Women Empowerment” Int’l Workshop held at GCOE, Jammu

Jammu : The Government College of Education, Jammu, in collaboration with the Centre for Women’s Studies (JU) and Rotary Club Jammu Elite, successfully organized a One-Day International Workshop and Panel Discussion on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The event, titled “Breaking the Barrier: Women Empowerment” focused on empowering women, addressing gender equality, and celebrating the achievements of women in various fields.
The program was held under the guidance of Chief Patron Dr. Jyoti Parihar and Prof. Savita Nayyar whose leadership and vision played a pivotal role in shaping the event. The organizing committee included, Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Prof. Satish K Sharma, Dr. Davinder Kour, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Prof. Sunanda Rani Prof. Priyanka Mahajan, Prof. Chanchal Singh and Dr. Sonam Gupta. The One-Day International Workshop featured distinguished Resource persons, including Dr. Marcia Jane (senior Lecturer Department of language study University Teknologi Mara (UITM) Perlis Branch campus Malaysia Prof. Dr. Savita Nayyar (Professor of Law, Director, Centre for Women’s Studies, JU) Prof. Monika Chadda (Department of English chair person, Campus cultural committee University of Jammu) Mandeep Kaur (Inspector, J&K Police), Anuradha Thakur (Deputy Secretary, JKAS Mission Youth),Dr.Sushma Rani (Principal, SCERT Jammu), Ruchika Gupta (Chairperson, FICCI FLO JKL, Jammu).
The event served as a vital platform for discussions on number of barriers and challenges which are required to be removed for women’s empowerment, leadership, and gender equity. Reinforcing the commitment of the Government College of Education, Jammu and Centre for Women Studies JU to foster a more inclusive and progressive society.
