KU Hosts Workshop On Entrepreneurship Skills For College Teachers

Srinagar : To equip educators with strategies for developing entrepreneurial skills among students, the Centre for Capacity Building & Skill Development (CCB&SD), University of Kashmir (KU), organized a one-day workshop on ‘Development of Entrepreneurship Skills, Attitude, and Behaviour Among Students’ at the varsity.
The workshop aimed at sensitising college teachers to equip students with essential entrepreneurial competencies. It included technical sessions led by industry experts and academicians. Speaking at the valedictory session, Dean Research KU, Prof. Mohammad Sultan Bhat, in his remarks, emphasized the need to align education with market demands. “Empowering students with entrepreneurial skills is essential in today’s evolving job landscape. Integrating innovation and skill development into the curriculum will prepare them for future challenges,” he said.
Expert speaker, Adil Ahsan, Head SIDBI J&K, highlighted the role of skill development in fostering economic growth, stressing the importance of collaboration between academia and industry. Prof. Humera Shafi from the Department of Psychology KU, spoke about the impact of a positive mindset on entrepreneurial success, and Mr. Mohammad Ashraf, CMD SISTI Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the need for an entrepreneurial culture in educational institutions.
Shabir Ahmad Handoo, Chairman, Kashmir Angels Pvt. Ltd., discussed challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurship, while Prof. Saad Parvaiz from NIT Srinagar stressed on the importance of shifting from traditional learning models to skill-based education. Prof. Farzana Gulzar from the Department of Management Studies, KU, elaborated on designing effective entrepreneurship curricula, alongside a self-awareness exercise. The discussions also covered emerging trends in AI and their impact on future career opportunities, providing valuable insights into technology-driven entrepreneurship. Director CCB&SD KU, Dr. Aadil Bashir, welcomed the participants and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to skill development.
