Jammu : Accusing BJP & it’s MLAs from Jammu of the betrayal of dogras over the issue of statehood after getting huge mandate from Jammu, PCC President Tariq Hameed Karra has targetted centre govt & BJP for criminal silence whereas congress is fighting for the restoration of dogra identity, dignity, status, cultutre and rights.
Addressing a party convention of Jammu Urban on Thursday Karra referred to dogra turban on his head & said that Congress party is fighting for the dignity & honour of this turban, but those who secured huge mandate from Dogras are silent for the restoration status & rights. They should answer to the people why they are silient over the most important commitment made by the Prime Minister in the public and besides before the supreme Court & the parliament.
He said that during the,two weeks long tour of Jammu province people have whole heartedly exteded thei support to the struggle for restoration of statehood and the day is not far off when Congress will not hesitate to hit the streets.
He said that our struggle has full support of people of all sections and regions and of our leadership as it first issue of party in our manifesto. We stand by that and fight till last.
Urging workers of Jammu city to gear up for intensifying the struggle for statehood and increase mass contact for full fledged struggle as well as for ULB elections as & when held by the government,JKPCC Chief asked the party leaders ,contesting candidates & workers to forcefully raise the issues og common people regarding power, water, ration, trade etc. He also referred to the demands of daily wagers, casual, need based, contractual, NHM workers, anganwadi, asha workers, SPOs, other temporary employees etc. and favoured early resolution of their issues. He said early restoration of full statehood and full powers is necessary for solving problems of people and unemployed youth.
Speaking on the occasion senior party leader Raman Bhalla expressed great concern over the rising crime rate in Jammu city and its outskirts after loosing statehood and special protection to land, jobs. “People of Jammu are feeling insecured and loosing jobs, trade, cultutre and language and peace of mind with unsecured future”, he said. Criticising authorities for disconnecting the power connections of poor people after sending exaggerated power bills to them. This is very unfortunate and govt must listen to the voice of people and fulfill the promise with them. He also referred to the issue of ration scale and the non issuance of fresh ration card for several years. He also raised the issue of daily wagers , adhoc contractuals etc seeking their regularisation. He charged BJP of betrayal of mandate snatching our identity, rights and dignity. Now its double betrayal by refusing to fulfill commitments for early restoration of statehood. He referred to the issue of abolition of upper house ,whereby a forum for giving representation to minorities and other un represented sections has been finished. Another senior party leader Ch Lal Singh strongly raised concerns over land and alleged encroachment of dogra cultutre, Terming therein it a greatest injustice by the BJP. “Our identity, dignity, status and rights to land, resoices have been destroyed. Our forefathers and dogra rulers fought for safeguarding our identity and rights. There is rising crime and drugs in the region and future generations are in danger”, Singh said.
