Dir Colleges reviews construction works of newly established Degree Colleges across North Kashmir

Srinagar : Director Colleges, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir conducted a two day visit to newly established Degree Colleges (GDCs) of North Kashmir to review the overall functioning of these colleges and take stock of ongoing works.
He was accompanied by Executive Engineer R&B , AD Planning, officers of Housing Board, Revenue and SICOP.
At GDC Dangiwacha, Director colleges took note of delay in construction of main academic block of the college. He asked the Principal to expedite the acquisition of approach road so that the prefabricated huts constructed at the college site are put to immediate use by shifting the college there without further delay.
Director Colleges also interacted with Civil Society Dangiwacha and asked them for support in operationalizing the college.
While taking a stock of developmental works at Govt. Degree College Hadipora, Director Colleges asked the Executive Engineer, Housing Board to expedite the works of ongoing projects and sort the issues raised by the Principal so that the funds are utilized in time.
At GDC Bommai , Director Colleges inspected the construction site and said that the slow pace of work on main building of the college is a major area of concern. Superintendent Engineer R&B assured him that the construction work will be paced up to cover up for the delay.
At GDC Thindim, Kreeri, Housing Board representatives assured that the construction on phase-II of main building will start within a fortnight as the tender process has been finalized.
Director Colleges also visited GDC Sopore to have an on the spot assessment regarding long pending issue of incomplete work of Girls Hostel. Executive Engineer R&B assured him that the Department will assess the construction work and suggest a way forward to ensure the resolution of this long pending issue.
Director Colleges also held interaction with faculty and students during the visits and asked the Principals to ensure that the colleges start functioning from pre-fab structures till the buildings are handed over.
