2 drug peddlers arrested in B’gam, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Khanshab, at a checkpoint established at Kremshora near Graveyard intercepted a suspect identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohammad Maqbool Sofi R/o Chodribagh Kremshora Khansahab who tried to flee from the spot, but was tactfully apprehended by police party, adding therein that during search, 3 sticks of Charas like substance wrapped in corn husk weighing about 69.28 grams was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was subsequently arrested. Police in its statement further said that during questioning, the said accused confessed the crime of procuring contraband substance from one Mohammad Wahid Thoker S/o Mohammad Sadiq Thokar R/o Chodribagh Kremshora who has concealed the additional contraband substances at his residential house.
Stating that while acting swiftly on the said input a police party raided the house in presence of 1st Class Executive Magistrate Khansahab and during search of the house recovered Charas like substance in a powder form weighing about 550 grams following which the accused was arrested , Police in its statement furthermore said that a case under FIR No. 26/2025 under relevant section of law was registered at Police Station Khansahab besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police said that with the support of the general public, it would combat drug trafficking and dismantle the narcotics network in the region and appealed people to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 in case of receiving any inputs about s drug peddling activities in their area.
