Jammu : The President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, on Sunday emphasized the role of the Sikh community in the cultural tapestry of Jammu and Kashmir, saying under the leadership of CM Omar Abdullah, the government is dedicated to ensuring the comprehensive development and progress of the community.
The National President made these remarks at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Guru Nanak Nagar in Jammu, where he participated in the Gurmat Samagam organized by Sardar Arunpal Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Youth Welfare Association, to commemorate the Prakash Ustav of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the Tenth Guru of the Sikh Panth.
The Party’s Provincial President Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, accompanied him on this visit. Also present were S. Tejinder Pal Singh, District President of Jammu Urban YNC, and all members of the Sikh Youth Welfare Association.
“Sikhs have a deep-rooted history in the Kashmir valley, enriching our cultural and political landscape,” he said adding, “the community has been neglected for far too long. Since 2014, both the central and state governments have failed to address the needs of the Sikh community, leaving them marginalised. In Jammu and Kashmir, the government led by Omar Abdullah is dedicated to empower the Sikh community, with a specific focus on enhancing their employment opportunities and education.”
While paying tributes to Guru Ji, Dr. Farooq said, “Shri Guru Gobind Singh is an embodiment of valour, sacrifice, and justice. Guru Ji’s ideals continue to guide humanity on the path of equality, righteousness, selfless service, and universal brotherhood. His ideals and values continue to inspire people across the world and will be cherished by generations to come.”
