AYUSH, Agri Deptt Ang Holds Seminar On Medicinal Plants As Source Of Income

Anantnag : The Department of AYUSH, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department Anantnag, organized a one-day seminar focused on promoting the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants as an alternative source of employment on Thursday at Mattan Anantnag.
MLA Shangus Anantnag East, Advocate Riyaz Khan, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, emphasized the significance of medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation in the current climate scenario.
He highlighted its potential to create sustainable employment opportunities and boost the rural economy.
The Guest of Honour, Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag, Aijaz Ahmad Dar, elaborated on the initiatives undertaken to support and promote the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants. He encouraged farmers to explore this sector as a viable means of livelihood.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries and participants, District AYUSH Officer Anantnag, Dr. Ali Mohd Reshi, underscored the importance of medicinal plant cultivation in healthcare. He stressed the growing demand for natural remedies and the role farmers can play in meeting the demand.
Experts from the AYUSH, Agriculture and Education Departments provided valuable insights into the best practices, economic benefits, and technical aspects of medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation. Farmers received in-depth knowledge on cultivation techniques, processing, and market opportunities.
A significant highlight of the seminar was the felicitation of progressive farmer Subzar Ahmad Wani, who was recognized for his remarkable success in medicinal plant cultivation. His achievements served as an inspiration to fellow farmers aspiring to venture into this.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, experts, and officials dedicated to enhancing agricultural prospects in the region.
