Kulgam : Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan on Tuesday inaugurated workshop on Safer Internet Day to raise awareness regarding the importance of safe and responsible internet use, particularly in light of growing cyber threats.
Speaking on the occasion, DC emphasized on the significance of maintaining strong cyber hygiene practices, such as avoiding suspicious links, being cautious about growing cyber incidents like “identity theft” and “Digital Arrest” and being mindful of personal information shared online.
DC also called for collective efforts in safeguarding each other from the ever-evolving risks of cyber attacks, highlighting the need for collaboration among individuals, communities and organizations.
During the workshop a detailed presentation was given by the District Informatics Officer (DIO) NIC Kulgam Nadeem Yousuf who share an in-depth overview of various types of cyber threats, including phishing, digital arrest, malware, ransomware, and online scams.
DIO also shared practical tips and best practices for protecting oneself from these threats, such as recognizing red flags in digital communication, securing personal devices, and adopting a proactive approach to online security.
Programme Officer ICDS, ACR Mushtaq Lone,Tehsildar DH Pora and Internet users were also present.
The workshop saw active participation from various stakeholders, including CSC VLEs (Common Service Centre Village Level Entrepreneurs), who play a pivotal role in digital outreach, and officials from multiple government departments of District Kulgam.
Cyber security awareness prog organised at Shopian
Shopian : Cybersecurity awareness programmes under the theme “Together for a Better Internet” was organised on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone here at Mini-Secretariat.
Speaking on the occasion, ADDC said that the event aimed to educate people about safe online practices, cyber threats and preventive measures to ensure a secure digital environment.
ADDC further highlighted & emphasized the importance of creating a safer online environment through collaboration and awareness.
“Together for a better internet” is associated with Safer Internet Day, observed globally on the second Tuesday of February each year.
On this occasion, Power-Point presentation was given by District Informatics Officers, Ishfaq Ahmed and his team focussing on the nature of cyber threats, cybercrime and cybersecurity and also promoting cybersecurity awareness.
Besides, various Cybersecurity awareness programmes were held at Town Hall Shopian and blocks of the district .
The programmes were attended by officers and officials of various departments and SHGs.
ADC Kupwara presides over workshop on Cyber security
Kupwara : A Cyber security awareness workshop was successfully conducted by District administration Kupwara on Tuesday to educate individuals on safeguarding themselves in the digital world.
The workshop was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Mohammad Rouf Rehman.
The event was aimed to raise awareness about cyber threats, data protection, and best practices for online safety.
