Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir government has directed People’s Conference chairman and Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone to vacate his ministerial bungalow at Church Lane, Sonwar, Srinagar, and has allotted him a government quarter in Jawahar Nagar.
According to a Government Order issued by the Estates Department, Lone has been allotted Quarter No. J-64 at Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, in lieu of his previous residence. The order states that the allotment is in pursuance of the Residential Accommodation of the Members of the J&K State Legislature Rules, 1973. Lone is required to execute a license deed with the Deputy Director, Estates, Kashmir, and complete all formalities under the rules. As per the order, the monthly rent/license fee will be charged as per prescribed rates, with separate charges for electricity and water. It further states that a legislator can have accommodation at only one place, either in Srinagar or Jammu, and Lone must furnish an undertaking confirming that neither he nor his family owns a residential house in Srinagar.
