Srinagar: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik Sunday said that Shaheed I Hurriyat Sheikh Abdul Hameed was a symbol of unity and sacrificed his life for the same goal.
“His father Sheikh Abdul Kabeer also represented the same ideology and always remained busy with his social work and philanthropy. Today when we recall his struggle and sacrifices of this family, we pay glowing tributes to this fatherly figure,” Malik as per the statement issued to KNS said while addressing a gathering at Sideeq-abad (Danderkhah) Batamaloo today.
A congregational prayer gathering was today held at Sideeq-abad Batamaloo for Late Sheikh Abdul Kabeer in which thousands of people participated and paid their homage to late sheikh Abdul Kabeer.
Besides JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, various important personalities, representatives of different social, political, trade bodies and religious organizations including Javed Ahmad Mir (JKLF), Shabir Ahmad Dar (Chairman Muslim conference), Tariq Ahmad Dar, Farooq Ahmad Wani (PL), Bashir Ahmad Tota (PL), M Iqbal Mir (Mahaz I Azadi), Shakil Ahmad Bakhshi (ISL), Abrar Ahmad Khan, Sajad Ahmad and Haji Nisar (Traders Bodies), Molvi Mushtaq (Salvation movement), Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah (Sawtul Haq), GM Rah (PL Khan Sopori), Khurshid Mir representing Roaf Kashmiri, Hafiz Sajad representing Shaheed Shabir Sideeqi trust), Umer Aadil Dar ( Tehreek-I-Hurriyat), Molvi Muhammad Hussain, Pirzada Raof Ahmad, Muneer Ahmad, advocate Zahir ud din, advocate Bashir Sidiq, advocate GN Shaheen, representative of Muhammad Azam Inqilabi( Mahaz I Azadi), representative of Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, along with many others either participated in the program or addressed the gathering.
At the end Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt (vice chairman JKLF) while paying tributes to the deceased thanked the participants for gracing the occasion.
A prayers meeting was also held in Islamabad Pakistan in this connection which was headed by senior vice chairman JKLF Abdul Hameed Butt sahib and was attended by various members of the supreme council in which rich tributes were paid to the late Chacha.
While recalling the struggle and sacrifices of Shaheed I Hurriyat sheikh Abdul Hameed and his family especially his late father Haji Sheikh Abdul Kabeer, JKLF chairman said that being father of Shaheed I Hurriyat, late Sheikh Abdul Kabeer represented a glorious history of struggle and sacrifices.
Malik said that Shaheed I Hurriyat sheikh Abdul Hameed after his release from jail in 1992 strived for unity and actually succeeded in forging unity and ending the ongoing internal group clashes at that time. “His act of unifying Kashmiris was not liked by the occupational state of India and uniting his nation became his biggest offense in the eyes of enemies who launched a full-fledged war against Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Hameed and martyred him within three months along with many other top leaders of JKLF at Aalikadal in 1992,” he said.
Malik said that unity, oneness, humble behavior and social work were some main features of Late Haji Abdul Kabeer Sheikh who along with his family tolerated jails, tortures, raids and much more but never showed any sign of fatigue and kept the flame of struggle and resistance high till his last breath.
Other Speakers also hailed the passionate social work and philanthropy of late Sheikh Abdul Kabeer and said that he and his families struggle and sacrifices can never be ignored by any Kashmiri.
At the end congregational prayers were held for the deceased and people prayed for the heavenly abode of late sheikh Abdul Kabeer and also for Sabr-I- Jamil to his bereaved family. (KNS)
