Jammu : The Regional News Unit of Doordarshan News Jammu (DD News Jammu) on Saturday presented a specially curated coffee table book on Assembly Elections to Transport Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir Vishesh Mahajan.
Vishesh Mahajan, who previously served as the District Election Officer (DEO) of Reasi, was felicitated at a formal event organized to acknowledge his significant contributions to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections in the district.
The coffee table book, an initiative of DD News Jammu, offers a comprehensive visual and narrative account of the Assembly elections. It captures pivotal moments, key milestones, and behind-the-scenes efforts of various stakeholders in conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This meticulously designed publication is aimed at preserving the legacy of the democratic process and recognizing the dedication of those who played a vital role in its successful execution.
Speaking on the occasion, Vishesh Mahajan expressed his gratitude to DD News Jammu for the thoughtful gesture and praised the initiative. He highlighted the importance of documenting electoral processes as a means of preserving institutional memory and fostering greater public awareness of democratic practices. “This coffee table book is not just a collection of photographs and narratives—it’s a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in the election process, from the officials to the voters,” Mahajan said.
During his tenure as the District Election Officer in Reasi, Mahajan played a crucial role in managing the electoral process efficiently. His efforts were instrumental in achieving high voter participation and ensuring that the election was conducted in a peaceful and impartial manner, setting a benchmark for future electoral exercises in the region.
The Regional News Unit of DD News Jammu has always been at the forefront of promoting democratic values through accurate and responsible reporting. By publishing the coffee table book, the news unit aims to highlight its commitment to public service broadcasting and its responsibility to document historical events that shape the democratic landscape of the region.
Senior officials from DD News Jammu emphasized the media’s role in disseminating information and educating the public about their democratic rights. They expressed hope that this coffee table book would serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, researchers, students, and citizens interested in understanding the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir.
The event concluded with an interactive session where media professionals and officials exchanged views on the challenges and best practices in election coverage. The presentation of the coffee table book marked yet another milestone in the collaboration between media and administration in promoting transparent governance and strengthening democratic institutions.
