Srinagar: Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Saturday stressed that he would intensify the fight for the rights of the people and full statehood with constitutional guarantees to restore the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Congress president said this during a meeting held at the Srinagar party headquarters here today to review the organizational affairs and activities in all the districts of North and Central Kashmir.
He said the Congress Party shall continue to fight for rights of the people and full statehood with constitutional guarantees to restore the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir.
“We will not rest till the Central Government fulfils its promise of restoring full Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir,” the JKPCC chief said.
“People have been facing hardships for a long-time and they have high expectations from the government, so there is a need to come up to their expectations,” the JKPCC president remarked.
He reiterated party’s commitment to continue working for inclusive development of Jammu and Kashmir, which has suffered serious setbacks on every count due to the policies of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at Centre.
The PCC chief directed cadres to take the programmes and policies of the party door-to-door vigorously and remain connected with people and make all efforts to resolve the issues they are confronted with.
Karra urged the government to make administration address public grievances on priority including electricity tariff, smart metres, unemployment menace and various other developments.
The first phase of the review meeting covered Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam districts falling in North and Central Kashmir, subsequently JKPCC president will review party activities in Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts on Sunday, a party statement said.
Apart from organizational activities, District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and senior leaders gave feedback to JKPCC president with regard to socio-political scenario obtaining in their respective districts and also briefed him about the issue confronting the public.
The meetings also held threadbare discussions over the upcoming challenges and resolved to further strengthen Congress party for the benefit and betterment of the people.
