JMC organises Public Samvaad at Sidhra to encourage citizens’ participation in Dev

Jammu : Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Thursday organised the 2nd session of its Public Samvaad initiative at Asrarabad, Sidhra (Ward No. 71).
The aim of the event was to engage the community in the development plans for the area and to ensure their active participation in the decision-making process, besides effective implementation of various government schemes for the welfare of the citizens living in the jurisdiction of JMC.
The event was attended by Member Legislative Assembly, Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, and Commissioner, JMC, Dr. Devansh Yadav, who actively engaged with the public to address their grievances and suggestions.
Addressing the occasion, the MLA appreciated the Commissioner for launch of Public Samvaad in the JMC Jurisdiction. He said it is an initiative when the government comes at the door steps of people to address their genuine issues. He said that the work on Nallah would be started soon, He asked the people to plant more and more saplings in their respective wards which would go a long way in keeping the environment clean and pollution free.
Commissioner in his address, dwelt in detail about the aim and objectives of organising Public Samvaad. He said that such Public Samvaad would also be organised in other wards of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Responding to the demands, the Commissioner said that JMC has taken up various initiatives for provision of basic amenities to the people.
Appealing to the people to use the dedicated garbage vehicles for refuse, the Commissioner also urged upon them to extend hands in doling out sanitation fee.
Appreciating the Public Samvaad initiative of the JMC, the locals projected a charter of demands which include repair of street lights, improvement in drainage system, regular water supply, development of parks, opening of dispensary, tiling of internal streets, installation of ATM kiosk, construction of bridge to connect Asrarabad with Gulshan Nagar and blacktopping of local link roads.
Among others, Joint Commissioner (A) Krishan Lal, Joint Commissioner (H&S) Abdul Star, Joint Commissioner (W) Firdous Ahmad Qazi, Deputy Commissioner (South) Lal Chand, Secretary, JMC, Chand Singh, Executive Engineers, Other senior officers of JMC, besides large number of locals were present on the occasion.
