G’bal: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested Mohammad Ashraf Malik, a Computer Operator at the Rural Development Department (RDD) in Block Gund, Ganderbal, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹3000.
The ACB received a written complaint from a local resident alleging that Malik, who is currently assigned the role of MIS Operation in the RDD office, was demanding ₹10,000 as a bribe. The bribe was allegedly sought for uploading the necessary documents to release payments for the completion of work under the MGNREGA Scheme at Kulmohar Qalwat near Masjid Sharief Chohan Mohalla, Harri Ganwan, Gund, Ganderbal. Following a pre-trap verification, it was confirmed that Malik was indeed demanding ₹10,000. However, after negotiations, the complainant agreed to pay ₹3000 as the first instalment. A formal investigation was initiated, and an FIR No. 03/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at the ACB Police Station, Srinagar. A trap team was formed and successfully apprehended Malik red-handed while he was accepting the bribe amount of ₹3000 from the complainant. The accused was taken into custody after completing the formalities. The investigation into the case is underway
