Capacity Building Workshop held for Dental Surgeons of Distt Jammu

Jammu : One day Capacity Building Workshop under National Oral Health Programme was held on Wednesday for the Dental Surgeons of District Jammu here in the Directorate of Health Services on 5th February 2025.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Magotra. It was organized by Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Chief Medical Officer Jammu in collaboration with Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dy. Director Dentistry, who is also the Nodal Officer for the programme for the Jammu Division.
The workshop was attended by 25 Dental Surgeons from various Primary Health Centers and Community Health Centers of the District.
Resource persons from Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Dr Ajay Gupta, Dr Satvinder Singh and Dr Sanjay Bhagat deliberated on different topics ranging from Contemporary RCTs, Dental Trauma and Modern Diagnostic methods in Dentistry.
Medical Oncologist from State Cancer Institute Dr Rajiv Gupta enlightened the gathering with diagnosis and management of oral cancers.
Consultant at Government Hospital Gandhinagar Dr Gaurav Gupta, gave a very informative presentation on Basal Implantology. All the participants were enthusiastic about this kind of workshop and had a very good interactive session.
Chief Medical Officer Jammu, in his address, highlighted the achievements of District Jammu and asked the Dental Surgeons to adopt a more proactive approach in implementing various National Health Programmes.
Director Health Services, Dr. Rakesh Magotra, in his address, promised to upgrade dental sections with modern equipment and sufficient consumables for carrying out all routine dental surgeries in the periphery.
National Oral health Programme is being implemented under the aegis of National Health Mission J&K in Jammu Division since 2015-16. Under the programme Dental Sections are being upgraded in all District Hospitals, Community Health Centers and Primary Health Centers .Further, trainings to upgrade the skills of Dental Surgeons and Dental Technicians under which this workshop was conducted, are an integral part of the Programme.
In the end, Dy. Director Dentistry Dr. Sanjay Sharma presented a detailed work done under National Oral Health Programme since its inception and unveiled a future roadmap for improving the Dental sections in the Department. The event ended with Certificate distribution to all attendees.
