Drug peddler arrested in B’gam, contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at village Harran intercepted a suspect identified as Sameer Ahmad Beigh S/o Ghulam Hassan Beigh R/o Check Soibugh, who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused person who was arrested and a case under FIR No. 17/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to remain vigilant and report drug peddling activities to the nearest police station, reiterating therein its commitment to act against the menace of drug addiction and trafficking.
