World Cancer Day Observed at Lal Ded Hospital Srinagar

Srinagar : Under the patronage of Prof Dr Iffat Hassan Principal/Dean Govt Medical College Srinagar, World Cancer Day was commemorated at Lal Ded Hospital by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, with a dedicated awareness program.
The event aimed to educate attendees on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment strategies, aligning with this year’s theme, “United by Unique.”
Prof. Dr. Masuma Rizvi, Head of the Department (HOD), Obstetrics and Gynaecology, GMC Srinagar, delivered an insightful session on cancer risk factors, preventive measures, and the importance of early diagnosis.
She emphasized the critical role of regular screenings, lifestyle modifications, and timely medical interventions in reducing cancer-related mortality.
Dr. Maimoona Gul, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Lal Ded Hospital, commended the collective dedication of the hospital staff in upholding Lal Ded Hospital’s reputation as a premier healthcare institution. She highlighted the invaluable contributions of both medical and non-medical personnel in ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
The event was attended by Prof Dr Samina Sultana, Prof Dr Shaylla Mir, Casualty Medical Officers (CMOs), Resident Medical Officers (RMOs), medical officers, paramedical staff, ministerial and administrative personnel, sanitary workers, patients, caregivers, and other distinguished guests.
Their participation underscored the collective commitment of the medical community to strengthening cancer care services and enhancing patient support.
The World Cancer Day commemoration at Lal Ded Hospital reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to raising cancer awareness, promoting early detection, and advancing patient care.
The event concluded with a pledge from all participants to continue their mission of delivering high-quality healthcare and working towards a cancer-free future.
