Jammu : Police in Jammu on Friday said that they have arrested two notorious gangsters, including one who was injured in police retaliation, during an operation in the Miran Sahib area.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office Jammu, Police said that on January 31, 2025, reliable sources provided information that a hardcore criminal, Paramjit Singh alias Jungi, son of Devi Dass, resident of Draptey, R.S. Pura, along with an unknown associate, was roaming in the jurisdiction of Police Station Miran Sahib with a firearm, allegedly planning to commit a serious crime.
Acting swiftly on this input, a police team from PS Miran Sahib rushed to the location. Upon reaching the spot, the said criminal fired at the police party, forcing the police to retaliate in self-defense. During the exchange of fire, Paramjit Singh sustained a bullet injury in his leg and was immediately shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment.
His associate was apprehended on the spot and later identified as Arjun Kumar alias Billu, son of Sham Lal, resident of Akhnoor, currently residing in Salehar Kothey, Arnia, Jammu, who was a wanted criminal and gangster.
Police have recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the gangsters. A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib, and further investigation is underway.
Jammu Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and taking strict action against criminal elements to ensure public safety.
