Jammu : Police in Jammu on Friday said that they have solved a cattle theft case registered at Police Station Bishnah, leading to the arrest of two cattle lifters and the seizure of a vehicle used in the crime.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office Jammu, Police said that a written complaint was received at Police Station Bishnah on December 5, 2024, regarding the theft of cattle by unidentified persons. Acting on the complaint, a case FIR No. 204/2024 U/S 305 BNS was registered, and an investigation was launched.
During the probe, a police team from PS Bishnah, led by SHO Bishnah Sh. Sushil Choudhary, with the help of technical analysis, detained a suspect identified as Reham Din alias Rehmu, son of Gammi, resident of Kheri, Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu. Upon sustained questioning, he confessed to his involvement in the crime.
Further investigation led to the identification of his accomplice, Mohd Sharif, son of Alf Din, resident of R.S. Pura, who owned the Tata Mobile vehicle (JK21H-3068) used in the theft. The vehicle has been seized as part of the operation.
It is pertinent to mention that both accused are habitual bovine lifters and used to supply stolen cattle to bovine smugglers. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
