Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has recovered a huge quantity of contraband substance by arresting the accused.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters here Police said that while acting on specific inputs a police party of Police Post Newa conducted a successful operation in Sheikh Mohalla, Newa, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of contraband substances, adding therein that during the operation the police team raided the residence of Mehraj Din Sheikh S/o Ali Mohammad Sheikh R/o Newa and recovered two nylon sacks containing 9.75Kgs of charas powder-like substance, besides arresting the said accused.
Stating that a a case under FIR No. 22/25 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pulwama besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug abuse and trafficking in the district and sought support from the local population by appealing them to report any information regarding the illicit trade of narcotics, Stating therein that “Together, we can work towards a drug-free society”.
