IIM Jammu Commemorates 76th Republic Day with Patriotic Fervor

Jammu: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu celebrated the 76th Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at its permanent campus in Jagti on 26th Jan 2025. The event was graced by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu.
The Republic Day ceremony commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the tricolor National Flag by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu followed by a stirring rendition of the national anthem, instilling pride among all attendees.
A memorable highlight of the event was the soulful performance of the iconic song, Aa Chal Ke Tujhe from the film, Door Gagan Ki Chaon Mein by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu accompanied by students, faculty, officers, and staff, symbolizing unity and patriotism. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Inspires Vision for Excellence and Nation-Building through his inspiring address on the eve of 76th Republic Day. On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, delivered an inspiring address emphasizing IIM Jammu’s role in India's progress and development. He highlighted India's achievements, including innovations like UPI, a steady GDP progressive growth rate and Shri Narendra Modi, The Prime Minister’s vision for a Viksit Bharat
by 2047. He stressed the importance of youth in driving this transformation and encouraged the IIM Jammu community to contribute meaningfully through research and entrepreneurship. He emphasized about IIM Jammu’s alignment with NEP 2020 and its collaborations with IIT Jammu and AIIMS Jammu. Notably, he emphasized the establishment of the “Centre for Innovation and
Transformation in Governance (CITaG)” at IIM Jammu by the Planning Development, Monitoring Department, Government of J&K, in collaboration with NITI Aayog, the Department of Economic Affairs, and other key stakeholders. IIM Jammu serves as the nodal knowledge partner and implementing body for this transformative initiative. He also mentioned about the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Skill Development at Jammu and Srinagar for supporting and creating a sustainable ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. He also reflected on IIM Jammu’s remarkable journey, including the appointment of seven Professors of Practice, impactful faculty research, a strong blend of theory with practice, and progress toward accreditations. He urged students to simplify complex concepts, apply their knowledge, and benefit from industry interactions, with 20% of classes being taught by industry professionals and experts. Looking to the future, he announced several key initiatives, including the formal launch of an alumni association, an upcoming convocation, and state of the art Infrastructure ranging from state-of-the-art classrooms, Management Development Centre, Vedanta as part of Executive Education and Consultancy, Nalanda Library, Vishrantika-Faculty Lounge, and inauguration of an amphitheatre. He also highlighted Mission YUVA, a flagship project in collaboration with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, and desirable ecosystem for helping those in the age group of 18-49 years to start at least 1.37 lakh new enterprises thereby generating around 4.25 lakh job opportunities in next 5 years in J&K where IIM Jammu serves as the knowledge partner to promote entrepreneurship and skill development. He also stressed on collaborating with the MSMEs, other Ministries for promoting and youth and
entrepreneurship. In his concluding remarks, he encouraged everyone to work diligently to position IIM Jammu as a global leader in management education, emphasizing the community’s collective responsibility toward the nation.
The celebration witnessed active participation from the IIM Jammu community, including Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics; IIM Jammu Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer, IIM Jammu; faculty members, officers, staff, and students. The vibrant program showcased a variety of student performances reflecting India’s cultural richness and patriotic fervour. Highlights included traditional dances, Antakshari, Musical Chair, Tug of War, Patriotic songs, Shayaris, Poems, and a skit illustrating the nation’s progress. A special segment of IIM Jammu’s Republic Day celebration featured a joyful dance performance by the children of faculty and staff. Their vibrant participation added a heartwarming touch to the event, symbolizing unity and spirit, and was met with enthusiastic applause. As a token of appreciation, the gardeners of IIM Jammu were felicitated by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu for their commendable work in maintaining the lush horticulture and greenery of the campus. He also interacted with the security personnel
and housekeeping staff, commending their dedication and encouraging them to continue their excellent work in supporting the institute’s mission. The celebration concluded with a powerful rendition of the national anthem, leaving the attendees with a renewed sense of pride and belonging to the IIM Jammu family. The event was coordinated by the CAO Office, Student Affairs office, and Project and Estate Office, with enthusiastic participation from faculty, officers, staff, and students at the institute.
