“The Mi’raj is not only a physical journey but also a profound spiritual event, symbolizing the Prophet’s (SAW) closeness to Allah, and demonstrating the honor and elevation granted to him. This event also serves as a reminder to Muslims of the importance of worship, humility, and the connection with the Divine.”

Mi’raj, the Night of Ascension, is one of the most significant and profound events in the life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Occurring in the year 621 CE, it represents a divine journey where the Prophet (SAW) was taken from Mecca to Jerusalem and then ascended through the seven heavens, eventually reaching the Divine Presence of Allah. The event, known as Isra and Mi’raj, took place in a single night and holds immense spiritual importance for Muslims, as it highlights the special connection between the Prophet and Allah, and is a source of guidance, comfort, and inspiration for the entire Muslim Ummah. The first part of the journey, Isra, involved the Prophet (SAW) being carried on the Buraq, a miraculous steed, from the Kaaba in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. From there, the Mi’raj took place, wherein the Prophet (SAW) ascended through the heavens, passing by various Prophets, including Adam (AS), Musa (AS), and Issa (AS), each of whom welcomed and spoke to him. This celestial journey culminated in the Prophet’s (SAW) meeting with Allah, where he was granted the obligation of prayer (Salah) for the Muslim community. Before this event, the Muslims were praying in different ways, but through the Mi’raj, Allah revealed to the Prophet (SAW) the specific form and number of prayers, which became one of the five pillars of Islam. The Mi’raj is not only a physical journey but also a profound spiritual event, symbolizing the Prophet’s (SAW) closeness to Allah, and demonstrating the honor and elevation granted to him. This event also serves as a reminder to Muslims of the importance of worship, humility, and the connection with the Divine. The Night of Mi’raj is also a time for reflection on the blessings of Allah, as it serves as a testament to His mercy, granting the Prophet (SAW) direct access to His presence, while also providing guidance for the entire Muslim Ummah through the institution of prayer.

“The Mi’raj is celebrated annually on the 27th night of the Islamic month of Rajab, where Muslims around the world remember this divine event through prayers, recitations, and reflections on its meaning. It is a night of blessings and revelations, not only in terms of the physical journey but also in the spiritual lessons it imparts—reminding believers of the importance of prayer, the centrality of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the lives of Muslims, and the boundless mercy of Allah. Ultimately, Mi’raj signifies the uplifting power of faith, and how through devotion and spiritual connection, one can rise above worldly limitations and attain closeness to the Divine.”

The experience of the Mi’raj is a powerful reminder of the spiritual heights that believers can aspire to through dedication, worship, and righteousness. Moreover, it emphasizes the idea that the Prophet (SAW) was chosen to carry the final revelation of Islam to humanity, reaffirming his unique status as the Seal of the Prophets.
