Doda: To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, a grand cycle rally was organized on Wednesday here at the DC Office Complex.
The event, held under the guidance of the Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, aimed to empower women and promote gender equality. Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh flagged off the rally, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from individuals across the district.
The rally, which included girls and boys on bicycles and scooties, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in ensuring gender empowerment. Starting from the DC Office Complex, the rally served as a platform to spread awareness about the critical role women play in society and the need to support girls’ education and empowerment. A pledge ceremony was also conducted during the event, reaffirming the community’s dedication to the cause.
Organized by the District Social Welfare Officer Tariq Qazi, the event highlighted the decade-long impact of the BBBP initiative in creating opportunities for girls and women in the region.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Mehta, along with representatives from other government departments and officials from the Social Welfare Department, also graced the occasion, showcasing their support for the mission of “Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child.”
