Jammu: J&K BJP Spokesman Brigadier (Retd) Anil Gupta on Saturday said that in her quest to become “Vishwa Guru” India also needs to harness soft power and project herself as a global leader in spiritual diplomacy and soft power.
In a statement issued here on Saturday the J&K BJP Spokesman said that Maha Kumbh Mela has the potential to become a driving force towards that end by showcasing to the global community its ancient culture and spiritual legacy that promotes unity in diversity. “Its sheer size and scale wherein almost 400 million people of diverse beliefs and varying cultures will converge for the holy dip making it the largest gathering of humanity qualifies it as a rare global event that needs global awareness” said Brig (Retd) Anil Gupta, Spokesperson of the Bhartiya Janata Party.
He urged government of India to use the opportunity to shape global narratives towards fostering international goodwill in a world that is mired with regional conflicts and global terror. The Maha Kumbh he said showcases India’s unity in diversity and its cherished values of unity, inclusivity, co-existence, peace, non-violence and its spiritual depth.
“India should use this opportunity to project itself as a global spiritual leader through holding awareness campaigns, hosting influencers, global leaders both political and spiritual and business tycoons. They must get the first hand feel of India’s cultural, spiritual and traditional identity. The Maha Kumbh has the transformative power that’s needed as a bridge towards global peace”, he said, adding “ It is the time to promote the Vedic theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Maha Kumbh Mela is the largest peaceful congregation despite its diversity and size.
He also said that visitors from our neighbourhood in South Asia need to be encouraged to participate in this rare event in order to promote our shared cultural heritage and traditions developing India into a cultural and spiritual hub of South Asia. “This would also help in fostering regional unity and peace”, hoped Brig Gupta, adding therein that UNESCO has recognized the Kumbh Mela as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of
Humanity. “Kumbh is not a mere cultural extravaganza but a beacon of hope of unity, co-existence, peace and shared purpose for a divided world” asserted Brig (Retd) Gupta.
