National Road Safety Month 2025: DC inaugurates Medical Screening Camp at General Bus Stand Kishtwar

Kishtwar: Under the aegis of ongoing National Road Safety Month 2025, a Medical Screening Camp was organised on Saturday here at the General Bus Stand, marking a vital step towards promoting road safety awareness in the district.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Road Safety Committee Rajesh Kumar Shavan, was the Chief Guest. He highlighted the importance of adopting safe practices to ensure the safety of lives on the roads.
The event was attended by approximately 350 participants, including transporters, citizens, and youth.
Prominent dignitaries present included ACR Kishtwar Idrees Lone, ARTO Kishtwar Mohd Saleem Manhas, DTI Kishtwar, MVI Kishtwar, and medical staff.
Organized by the Motor Vehicles Department Kishtwar in collaboration with the Transport Union and other stakeholders of Kishtwar, the month-long activities aim to enhance public awareness on road safety.
The program began with a welcome address and the administration of a safety pledge by ARTO Kishtwar Mohd Saleem Manhas, aligning with the objectives of the National Road Safety Month.
As part of the event, a medical screening camp was conducted, where over 100 drivers underwent health check-ups for eyesight, blood pressure, and other fitness criteria.
DC Kishtwar, along with other dignitaries, addressed the gathering and shed light on crucial road safety issues. The DC emphasized the importance of adhering to road safety measures, stating that such precautions are instrumental in saving lives. He urged transporters and citizens to take collective responsibility for ensuring safer journeys on the roads.
Meanwhile DC Kishtwar along with ARTO and his staff took a round of General Stand, reviewed road safety measures being followed by Transporters besides looked into the parking plan and cleanliness at Bus Stand. He also sensitized the transporters about the Road safety measures.
The program also featured a voter pledge. As the District Election Officer (DEO), the DC informed the gathering about the extensive campaigns being organized across the district to mark National Voters’ Day (NVD). He underscored the importance of educating every citizen, especially marginalized groups, about the significance of voting.
Deputy District Election Officer Kishtwar Idrees Lone and ENT Angreez Singh Jasrotia were also present on the occasion. The DEO lauded the significance of NVD and encouraged everyone to actively participate in strengthening democracy.
