Jammu: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu, organized an Induction Programme for in-service teachers enrolled in the B.Ed. programme (2024–2026). The event, held in the seminar hall of the new CDOE building, witnessed the participation of over 300 in-service teachers, dignitaries, and resource persons.
The Dean, Faculty of Education, and Head, Department of Education, Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Rattan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj K. Shrivastava, Director, CDOE; Dr. Kishore Kumar, Principal, Government SRML Higher Secondary School and B.Ed. alumnus; and Prof. C.L. Shivgotra, retired from the Government College of Education, Jammu. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Jaspal Singh Warwal, B.Ed. Programme Coordinator, followed by a ceremonial presentation of a bouquet to the Chief Guest. A traditional lamp-lighting ceremony marked the formal inauguration, symbolizing the invocation of divine blessings.
In his address, Prof. Shrivastava emphasized the significance of critical components of the B.Ed. curriculum, such as internship work and reflective journal writing, describing teaching as an art that requires mastery of nuanced skills. Chief Guest Prof. Rattan commended the meticulous planning and execution of the programme, acknowledging the recent accolades of the University of Jammu, including A++ NAAC accreditation and NCTE recognition of the B.Ed. programme. He urged participants to embrace creativity and passion for teaching, advocating a proactive approach aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He further emphasized that NEP 2020 will open up numerous opportunities for budding teachers, encouraging them to embrace experimentation, think creatively, and strive to become job creators rather than merely job seekers. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Bharti Nagra. Later, Dr. Jaspal Singh provided a detailed briefing on the course structure, engaging participants in an interactive session to address their queries. The in-service teachers enthusiastically shared ideas, fostering a collaborative and constructive exchange.
