4 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Station Panthachowk during naka checking at Zafran Colony apprehended two individuals identified as Furqan Majid Khan @ Kanda S/o Majid R/o Kanipora and Sameer Hussain Dar S/o Gh. Mohammad Dar R/o Chattergam and during their search recovered substantial quantity of narcotic substance from their possession.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 02/2025 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Pantha chowk and arrested both the said accused , Police in its statement further said that in a similar action during naka checking at Zawoora crossing, two chronic drug peddlers identified as Suhaibji Bhat S/o Abdul Rashid Bhat R/o Ganderbal and Ubaidullah Lone S/o Ifhtikhar Ahmad Lone R/o Hanji Danter Anatnag A/P Naz colony Panthachowk were arrested who they were travelling in a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK16B-3205. Police in its statement further said that during search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused following which a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered, adding therein that further investigation into both the cases is going on to unearth illegal narcotics network.
Stating further that Ubaidullah Lone is a chronic and known drug supplier in the vicinity to supply it to the younger generation resulting destruction of the many lives, Police in its statement also said that as per the initial investigation and questioning, the drug supplier transports the drug from outside J&K to the local area, especially the youth.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to assist them in the fight against drug trafficking by sharing any relevant information .
