Jammu: Police in Jammu on Tuesday said that Domana Police Station has successfully solved a hit-and-run case that occurred on January 3, last year, at Muthi NHW. The incident involved a motorcyclist, identified as Abhineet Revo, son of Paran Nath Revo, a resident of Ward No. 09, Kamleshwar Colony, Akhnoor, who tragically lost his life after being hit by an unidentified vehicle. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot and was later shifted to GMC by local residents. The driver of the offending vehicle fled the scene along with the vehicle after the accident.
In a statement issued from the District Police Office, Jammu Police said that acting on the inputs, a case under FIR No. 03/2025 was registered under relevant sections of the law at Domana Police Station and after thorough investigation including the examination of CCTV footage from various locations and the use of advanced technical assistance, the special police team of Domana Police Station, led by SHO Domana Insp. Rajeshwar Singh, identified and arrested the accused driver.
Stating that the accused was identified as Saleem Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Sanasar, Tehsil Batote, District Ramban, currently residing in Patoli Brahmana, Jammu, Police in its statement further said that the vehicle involved in the incident and a Tipper (407 load carrier) bearing registration no JK02BH/9527 was also seized. “Further investigation into the case is ongoing”, reads further the above referred Police Statement . Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement also commended the relentless efforts of the special investigation team and the cooperation of local residents, which led to the swift resolution of this case.
