Srinagar: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Monday felicitated people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on the inauguration of much-awaited Z-Morh tunnel by the PM Narindra Modi this forenoon .
According to a statement issued here, Yaseen while felicitating people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on the inauguration of Sonamarg tunnel , has said that the tunnel would go a long way in bolstering tourism and economy in these regions. He has thanked PM for inaugurating the much awaited tunnel . He hoped that PM will expedite work on other strategic tunnels especially tunnels at Mughal road, sinthan top and sadhna top besides expeditious completion of Gulmarg -Tossamaidan -Doodhpathri -Yusmarg – Poonch Mandi tourist circuit.
“Alongside developmental needs, PM Narindra Modi should also fulfill political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir like restoration of statehood. He said prolonged delay in restoration of statehood has caused an environment of frustration and suspicion, Hakeem Yaseen added. He said better would have, had PM announced restoration of statehood on the spot. Worthwhile to mention, the Prime Minister inaugurated the sonamarg tunnel this afternoon along with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Dr Jitendra Singh, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other officials.
The PDF Chairman said that the 6.5 kilometer-long Z-Morh Tunnel is poised to make Sonamarg accessible from Srinagar year-round, a feat previously hindered by harsh winter conditions.
Hakeem Yaseen has said that expeditious construction of ambitious Gulmarg – Tossamaidan -Doodhpathri -Yusmarg – Poonch Mandi tourist circuit was also a priority as it will be a turning point for transforming the tourism landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the tourist circuit will not only enhance tourism and economic emancipation but also expand social interaction between the people of these areas.
