6 drug peddlers Arrested, Psychotropic Substances Also Recovered: Police

Anantnag : Police on Friday said that it has achieved major successes by arresting 6 peddlers in Anantnag and Sopore and also recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Anantnag, during Naka checking at Halmulla Sangam, a vehicle (Wagon-R) bearing registration no JK01M-4136 was intercepted and three suspects travelling in the vehicles identified as Javid Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ab. Gani Sheikh of Kuchmulla Tral, Mohd Altaf Sheikh S/o Gh Mohd Sheikh of Kanihama Nowgam Srinagar and Mohd Haroon Parry S/o Mohd Sadiq Parry of Charsoo Awantipora were searched, Police in its statement further said that during searches 21 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from the possession of the said accused following which the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that in a similar action a Truck bearing registration no JK01AS-5073 belonging to Jupiter Cargo Transport Company Srinagar, was stopped for inspection at Jablipora NHW near Fruit Mandi and during search 10 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered, Police in its statement further said that the truck driver identified as Javaid Ahmad Shah S/o Mohd Yousuf Shah and the conductor identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah S/o Ali Mohd Shah both residents of Bahoo, Awantipora were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Police in its statement further more said that in a similar action in Sopore during a naka checking at Naidhal Crossing Crossing, a police team led by SHO Police Station Panzalla intercepted one Shakir Ahmad Sheikh S/o Mohammad Majoo Sheikh R/o Noorbagh Baramulla and during search recovered 32.3 grams of Charas like substance and 64 Capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus from his possession, adding therein that the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment combat the drug menace and protect the community.
