Nikshay Shivirs organized near LoC in Uroosa & Gawalta villages in Uri to strengthen TB elimination efforts

Baramulla: In continued efforts to eliminate tuberculosis (TB), the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) team organized Nikshay Shivirs in the border villages of Uroosa and Gawalta, Uri located near the Line of Control (LoC).
The camps aimed to provide free TB screening, diagnosis, and treatment services to residents in these far-flung and strategically important areas, despite harsh winter conditions. Medical teams comprising doctors, nurses and paramedics worked diligently to deliver comprehensive healthcare services.
During the Shivirs, 321 individuals were screened for TB. Among them, 43 underwent NAAT tests, 143 were referred for X-rays, and 13 were tested for Cy-TB. These efforts ensured early detection and immediate medical attention for TB patients in remote communities.
Residents of Uroosa and Gawalta expressed their gratitude to the health authorities for prioritizing their needs and delivering healthcare services to their doorstep. The initiative not only raised awareness about TB prevention and treatment but also showcased the government’s commitment to eradicating the disease from the region.
This effort highlights the unwavering dedication of the district administration to ensuring equitable healthcare access, especially in sensitive border areas, as part of the broader goal to eliminate TB nationwide.
