Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has attached property of a drug peddler valuing at worth lakhs of rupees in Noorbagh area of Srinagar under the provisions of NDPS Act.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that stern legal action stems from case FIR No. 134/2024, registered against the drug peddler namely Mohd Irfan Sheikh S/o Mohd Ashraf Sheikh R/o Pamposh Colony Palpora, under the jurisdiction of Police Post Noorbagh, adding therein that “ During investigation, it came to fore that a huge quantity of narcotic drugs was seized and the accused had acquired substantial property including a house and land through the proceeds of illegal drug trade.
Stating that while adhering to relevant legal procedures, the property valued in lakhs (house and land) has been attached under the NDPS Act, Police in its statement further said that a series of strong legal actions by Srinagar Police is to convey a message to one and all involved in drug-related crimes that long arm of law would catch up with them sooner or later, adding therein that Police targets not only offenders for the crimes they commit but also their unlawfully acquired assets would be attached and seized under law of the land.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police sought cooperation from the people in fight against drug trafficking by sharing any relevant information.
