Rajouri : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, on Wednesday chaired a Block Diwas program at the Eco Tourism Park, Gurha Top, near Sain Ganji Ziarat. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the local populace, who actively participated in discussions and raised various developmental and infrastructural concerns.
Among the prominent issues brought forth by the residents were the condition of the Rajouri to Aaiti road, unscheduled electricity cuts and irregular water supply. The DC patiently listened to the grievances and assured the public of prompt redressal.
The program also saw the participation of officers and officials from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Power Development Department (PDD) and PHE department who sensitised the attendees about ongoing schemes.
The DC encouraged greater public participation in the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) and the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, urging the residents to leverage these schemes to enhance their livelihoods.
He highlighted the potential of the region’s fertile land and motivated farmers to actively utilize government initiatives for maximum benefit. The DC also emphasised the importance of making Kisan Khidmat Ghars functional and urged eligible candidates to complete the necessary documentation to avail the facilities.
Residents of Aaiti expressed gratitude for the DC’s visit, noting it as the first time such an initiative had been held in their village. The direct interaction with officers and the DC’s commitment to addressing issues on the ground were widely appreciated.
Following the Block Diwas, the DC inspected an under-construction filtration plant being developed under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He reviewed the progress and directed officials to ensure its timely completion to address water supply issues in the area.
The event was attended by ADDC Rajouri, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa; DDC Member, Sain Abdul Rashid; ACP, Sheraz Ahmed; CPO, Maqsood Ahmed; ACD, Vijay Kumar and other district and block-level officers.
