Srinagar : Dr. Saurabh Jaiswal, Senior Consultant in Cardiac Surgery at Narayana Hospital, Jaipur, has highlighted the transformative advancements in cardiac surgery techniques, emphasizing their role in delivering better outcomes for heart patients. Speaking about the recent progress, he noted that innovative methods and technologies are enabling faster recovery, reduced surgical risks, and improved patient experiences.
“In cases of serious heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, and valvular heart disease, patients are now receiving more effective treatment. The recovery process has significantly improved due to these advancements,” Dr. Jaiswal stated. One of the key breakthroughs in cardiac surgery is minimally invasive technology. “Unlike earlier methods that required large incisions, we can now perform surgeries with tiny cuts, using specialized instruments and cameras. This results in less pain, minimal bleeding, and faster recovery for patients,” he explained. Additionally, robotic-assisted surgeries are producing excellent results, offering enhanced precision and control during procedures. Dr. Jaiswal also discussed laser heart surgery, a technique particularly effective for treating angina and blocked arteries. “Using lasers, we create small holes around the blocked artery, encouraging the growth of new blood vessels and improving blood circulation. It is a less painful process, ensuring quicker recovery,” he said. Another promising area is stem cell therapy, an emerging treatment for heart failure. “Stem cells are used to repair damaged heart tissues, fostering the formation of new tissues. While still under research, this technique holds significant potential for future cardiac care,” he added.
Advanced Imaging and 3D Printing: Advancements in imaging techniques have also revolutionized pre-surgical planning. “Using MRI, CT scans, and echo-cardiography, we can now obtain precise information about the heart’s condition before surgery. This ensures better safety and increases the chances of success,” Dr. Jaiswal noted. He further highlighted the role of 3D printing in cardiac care. “With 3D printing, we can create accurate models of a patient’s heart, allowing for better surgical planning. Additionally, artificial valves and blood vessels created through this technology are being utilized in surgeries, reducing risks and improving outcomes,” he elaborated. Dr. Jaiswal emphasized that these technological advancements are proving to be a boon for patients, enabling safer and more effective treatments in less time. “As the number of heart patients continues to rise, these innovations will become increasingly vital in addressing complex cardiac issues,” he concluded. With such groundbreaking developments, Narayana Hospital, Jaipur, continues to lead the way in providing world-class cardiac care.
