Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at village Kaharwath intercepted a vehicle (Tata mobile) bearing registration no JK18D-4327 with two suspects on boards. Stating that the said suspects were identified as Mashooq Ahmad Hella S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Batpora Kulgam and Shabir Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Hassan Mir R/o Okey Kulgam on Board, Police in its statement further said that during search, 250 grams of Poppy Straw like substance filled in a bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, adding therein that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 177/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating further investigation. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
