Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh intercepted three suspects identified as Yawar Bilal S/o Bilal Ahmad Karni R/o Abi Buchwara, Maroof Bilal Kolu S/o Bilal Ahmad Kolu R/o Indranagar, Srinagar and Shoib Hilal Lawaye S/o Hilal Ahmad Lawaye R/o Drugjan, Dalgate at a checkpoint established near CD Hospital Dalgate and during search recovered 9.6 grams of Heroin from their possession.
Stating that at another checkpoint established at Sozeith Bund, a Police team arrested a drug peddler identified as Abid Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Rasool Bhat R/o Sozeith Goripora and during his search recovered 430 grams of Charas and 750 grams of Bhang Powder concealed in a polythene bag from the possession of the said accused, Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of itse above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curing the menace of drug from the society, warning therein that those engaged in drug dealings would be caught sooner and every offender will face full force of law.
