6 drug peddlers arrested across Kashmir, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Budgam, Ganderbal & Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Budgam, a police party of Police Station Magam during Naka checking at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Magam intercepted two suspects identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Parray S/o Ali Mohd Parray R/o Hardu-Malpora Beerwah and Aamir Farooq Wani S/o Farooq Ahmed Wani R/o Arath Budgam. Stating that the said suspects were carrying Nylon bags and tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully, Police in its statement further said that during search, 11 grams of Heroin-like substance and a digital weighing machine was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Police in its statement further said said that in a similar action a Police Party led by SHO Police Station Chadoora accompanied by I/C Police Post Mochewa at a checkpoint established at Sheikhpora Wathoora Crossing apprehended one s Irfan Amin Sheikh S/o Mohammad Amin Sheikh R/o Dooniwari Chadoora while carrying a nylon bag, adding therein that during search, 7 sticks of charas like substance weighing about 230 grams wrapped in Corn Maize husk and 1.1Kgs of semi-grinded powder-like substance apparently charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that in Sopore also, a police party of Police Station Panzalla headed by SHO Police Station Panzalla under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Aabid Rashid Mir during naka checking at Chek Gujri Rohama apprehended two suspects identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Malla S/o Habib-u-llah Malla and Mohammad Rafiq Hajam S/o Ghulam Mohammad Hajam, both R/o Rohama Rafiabad, Police in its statement said that during search, 45 grams of charas like substance and 88 tablets of SpasmoProxyvon Plus were recovered from the possession of the said accused. Police in its statement further said that in Ganderbal also, Police Station Ganderbal received inputs through reliable sources about one Nazir Ahmad Khan S/o Ghulam Ahmad Khan R/o Khan Mohalla Arhama hving concealed contraband at his residential home located at Arhama, adding that on receiving the inputs a special Police team was constituted who along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class raided the residential house of the accused and during search recovered 2.9 Kgs of Bhang following which the accused was arrested on the spot.
Stating that all the accused were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, Police in its statement further saidv that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
