Srinagar : Police on Monday attached properties of drug peddlers worth ₹1.6 crore in Anantnag under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police Station Aishmuqam attached properties belonging to Mushtaq Ahmed Ahanger S/o Mohammad Sadiq Ahanger R/o Hapatnaar Aishmuqam and seized assets includinga double-storey concrete building and a concrete shop, collectively valued at approximately ₹1.3 Crores. Stating that one of the said accused Mushtaq Ahmed Ahanger is implicated in ongoing narcotics-related offences, and the said action aims to dismantle his illegal operations, Police in its statement further said that Police Station Anantnag attached a double-storey building with six concrete shops in Sadoora, belonging to Bashir Ahmed Mir S/o Abdul Khaliq Mir, habitual offender involved in multiple narcotics cases, adding therein that Bashir Ahmed Mir’s seized assets are valued at around ₹30 lakh. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that these decisive actions underscore J&K Police aggressive strategy to combat the drug menace by targeting not only offenders but also freezing assets acquired through illegal activities.
