B’gam: A massive protest erupted outside the office of the Executive Engineer (Exen) of the Power Development Department (PDD) in Budgam as casual workers voiced their frustration over decades-long delays in salary payments.
The protesters, who have been serving the department tirelessly for years without regular pay, criticized the officials for their apathy and lack of action. Speaking to the media, the workers expressed their anguish over the hardships they and their families face due to the financial uncertainty.
“We have been waiting for our rightful salaries for decades. Despite repeated assurances, the department has failed to address our concerns. This is a matter of survival for us,” one of the protesters said.
The demonstration highlighted the growing discontent among casual workers who demanded immediate intervention from higher authorities to resolve the issue and ensure regular payments.
The protest underscores the urgent need for systemic reforms in addressing the grievances of casual workers in the region.
