Sakeena Masood visits Lolab, inaugurates Earth Science Block at GDC Sogam, residential quarters at GHSS Tekipora

Lolab : Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Masood, on Wednesday conducted an exhaustive tour of Lolab Sub Division of Kupwara during which she inaugurated development projects at GDC Sogam and GHSS Tekipora, inspected healthcare facilities and interacted with the general public.
The Minister inaugurated Earth Science Block at Government Degree College (GDC) Sogam in presence of MLA Lolab, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan. The building has been completed at a cost of Rs.304.70 lakh.
On the occasion, the Minister congratulated the Principal, MLA and district administration for inauguration of the Earth Science block in the GDC which will facilitate the students opting for relevant subjects. She said that education plays an important role in addressing various issues of the community, adding that Government is committed towards improving the education scenario in J&K especially in far flung areas like Lolab.
Later, the Minister held an interactive discussion with the Principal, Shameem Ahmad Dar and college staff.
During the interaction, the Principal presented several demands and issues pertaining to the college which inter alia included filling up of vacant posts of teaching faculty, creation of posts and construction of staff quarters.
The Minister heard the issues patiently and assured that the issues will be resolved in a phased manner.
Earlier, the Minister also inaugurated a residential quarter in Government Higher Secondary School Tekipora, completed at a cost of Rs.55 lakh.
MLA Lolab, DC Kupwara and Director School Education Kashmir besides other officials were present on the occasion.
Later, the Minister inspected NTPHC Tekipora and SDH Sogam during which she interacted with the doctors and enquired about the functioning of healthcare facilities.
The Minister also held an interactive session with the general public at Tekipora Lolab and heard their developmental issues. She assured them of time bound and prompt resolution of their genuine issues.
