Pulwama: In an effort to combat the rising challenges of drug addiction, the Social Welfare Department Pulwamaon Tuesday organized a mega event at Circuit House, Pulwama, under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR).
The event was a part of the ‘Drug-Free India Campaign,’ focusing on the severe impact of substance abuse on individuals and communities.
District Social Welfare Officer addressed the participants, emphasizing the objectives of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction and the importance of coordinated efforts in creating a drug-free society.
He highlighted the psychological, social and economic consequences of addiction, stressing the need for collective action and awareness to tackle this critical issue.
The event included presentations and discussions by several speakers from District Mission for SANKALP-HEW, Mission Shakti Pulwama; the Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre, Eidgah Srinagar; ATF Pulwama, religious scholars and representatives of DLSA Pulwama.
Further Experts from various departments contributed their insights, providing comprehensive perspectives on the preventative and rehabilitative measures necessary to address addiction.
The speakers emphasised role of each stakeholder including parents and civil society organisations local committees and religious organisations in combating drug menace.
The Social Welfare Department encouraged participants to act as community ambassadors, spreading awareness and actively supporting individuals affected by addiction, reinforcing a unified commitment to a healthier, drug-free Pulwama.
